A program that allows hunters to give deer meat to the public will continue again this fall.
Hunters harvested fewer deer in the 2013 season than in each of the previous five seasons. That might be sobering news to some deer hunters, but it wasn’t unexpected.

Julio Garcia-Duran, 35, of Ft. Wayne was traveling south on SR 9 Oct. 27 when a deer collided with the front passenger side of his vehicle south of CR 300S.
Hunters in Indiana can expect another productive deer season in 2013, but probably not as productive as last year’s record setter.
The deadline for hunters to apply for this year’s state park deer reduction hunts is Sunday, Aug. 25.
One of the many changes to deer hunting regulations that were implemented this year will take place when the special antlerless season begins Dec. 26.
GiveIN Game is a free donation program run by the DNR to connect people who would like deer meat to feed their families with successful hunters who have extra deer meat.
The last thing you want to worry about when deer hunting is if you have the right license for the right deer season.
