Glen Oaks Community College (GOCC) believes new student orientation, which informs students of campus programs and services, is so important that it will be offered for the winter semester for the first time.
Winter 2012 New Student Orientation will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 20, in the Business Development Center’s Dresser Auditorium. The event includes refreshments and prizes. First classes for the 2012 Winter Semester will begin Jan. 9.
GOCC Director of Admissions Tonya Howden said the first-ever winter orientation is “an effort to better serve and prepare our students, many of whom begin their first classes in the winter term.” Howden said breakout sessions will be held in the nearby Business Development Center computer labs. The orientation ends with a tour of the campus.
“This is an excellent time for new students to learn of the many support services available to them and perhaps gain some tips on managing workload, family and classes,” Howden stated.
Those unable to attend the on-campus orientation may complete the online version of the new student orientation. Go to www.glen oaks.edu and click “Online Orientation” under the “Quick Links” section of the website. By submitting the form at the end of the orientation, each student will be entered in a drawing to win prizes from the admissions office.
Parents and family members are welcome to attend the on-campus new student prientation. To reserve a seat, RSVP the GOCC Admissions Office at (269) 294-4253 or e-mail admissions@ glenoaks.edu. Be sure to include the number of people attending in the RSVP.
