A class for weather spotters will be held February 27 in the Prairie Heights Community High School Auditorium. A time for the evening event has not been announced.
Representatives from the National Weather Service will present the program, which is sponsored locally by the Local Emergency Preparedness Committee (LEPC). People from Noble, DeKalb, Steuben and LaGrange counties in Indiana will be involved as well as representatives from St. Joseph and Branch counties in Michigan.
Firefighters, emergency medical personnel, law enforcement and the general public are strongly urged to attend, according to LEPC Director Stewart Bender.
Other business transacted at the Monday LEPC meeting including setting dates for meetings in 2014. The first meeting will be on January 27, followed by meetings on March 31, June 20 and September 29. All meetings will be on Mondays and start at 9 a.m. in the LaGrange County Office Building.
Member of the board authorized Chairman Bender to attend a state Emergency Management Association meeting in Indianapolis at the end of this week.
