Two injured after garbage truck hits pickup

On May 7, a Clean Earth Services garbage truck driven by Daylio Kiser, 63, was stopped on CR 750N at the intersection of CR 375E, facing west. A Dodge pickup driven by Juan Urquiza Serna, 38, of Hidalgo, Texas, was traveling south on CR 375E, approaching the intersection with CR 750N.

According to the police report, Kiser proceeded to drive the garbage truck west through the intersection, hitting the pickup. After the initial impact, the garbage truck struck an electrical pole on the southwest corner of the intersection. Kiser said he didn’t see the other vehicle when he proceeded through the intersection.

Urquiza Serna sustained injuries to his head, neck and left foot. He was transported to Parkview LaGrange Hospital. A passenger in the pickup, Joshua Marshall, 24, of CR 100E sustained injuries to his back and chest. He was also transported to Parkview LaGrange Hospital.

Kiser was cited for failure to yield.
