Programs like Pennies for Patients have helped the blood cancer patient survival rate continue to rise. In the U.S., more than 12,000 people under age 21 are diagnosed with cancer. Three thousand of those don’t survive. Of those diagnosed each year, 27 percent have a type of leukemia.
