Moments can become memories as children travel throughout Shipshewana on Saturday, Dec. 8.
Free games, prizes and fun activities are planned for children ages 1-12 at various participating merchants throughout Shipshewana. Children can pick up free passports and itinerary between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. in the Davis Mercantile at 225 Harrison St. The children can then travel throughout Shipshewana until 3 p.m. to have their passports stamped and to participate in Christmas memory making activities.
Storytellers will be at some of the passport stops to share their Christmas memories while the children participate in the activities. Children begin their journey at the Davis Mercantile, where they will be able to play games, make crafts, and taste Christmas goodies at various stores in the building. They can then travel down Harrison St. to Kukui’s Hawaiian Shaved Ice for a “Where’s the Nativity?” hunt, then on to the Blue Gate Bakery and The Hitching Post where more fun awaits.
Journey to Yoder’s Shopping Center for more storytelling along with games and prizes and an opportunity to enjoy the gingerbread house display and Santa’s Workshop. Trek on to Yoder’s Red Barn for cookie making, a treasure hunt and more games. Children can travel to Splash Universe and join “Buddy” for Christmas face-painting, Christmas crafts, and more storytelling.
At 11 a.m., children are invited to enjoy a free Christmas puppet show by Mousetrap Puppets on the 3rd floor of the Davis Mercantile.
Finally, children can visit Santa between noon and 3 p.m. at the Wolfe Building. Photos with Santa will be available.
