On Saturday, August 17th, there will be a home canning information session at the LaGrange County Public Library held by the LaGrange County Extension Office’s educational program Gifts, Greens, and Goodies (GGG).
GGG is a program presented each year by the LaGrange County Extension Homemakers. They have met several times since June.
This year’s program is to run from 10 a.m. to noon, and it will update home canners on the latest procedures to can food safely. The program is open to the public, to both experienced and beginner canners.
Ann Fremion, the agent for the Extension Homemakers, will present the program and answer the question of when to use a waterbath or a pressure canner.
The program will take place in the community room at the LaGrange County Public Library, and a small donation is requested. A new Ball Blue Book on Canning will be offered for purchase at a much reduced rate, compliments of Schlemmers Hardware and the LaGrange Extension Homemakers.
Craft items will serve as door prizes; instructions for making these items will be included in the booklet that all attendees will receive. Light refreshments will be served, and the recipes for those will also be included in the booklet provided.
Reservations are requested, as the program only has room for 60 participants. Those with reservations will be admitted first, and the walk-ins may attend as there are chairs available. The doors will open at 9:30 a.m., and the program will begin promptly at 10 a.m.
Call Carla at 260-463-5550 to reserve your seat.
