There will be a benefit fundraiser for the Willard Smith family from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, in Ontario Park.
There will be food, drinks, a bake sale, a raffle, and auction. There will also be kids’ activities such as The Punch and Judy Show by Mousetrap Puppets, three-legged race, and a pick-a-duck game. There will also be music by the Chapel Hill Band and a cornhole tournament for the adults.
In November 2010, Willard Smith had replacement vein surgery in his leg. In November 2011, he underwent bypass replacement vein surgery for the same leg. While recovery went well for both procedures, in December 2011 the Smith family was faced with the unexpected death of their 32-year-old son Willard C. Smith. Since February of this year, Willard has endured multiple hospital stays, tests, and surgeries in an effort to find the cause of blood clots and blockages in his leg. If problems persist, Willard may lose his leg or worse. The costs associated with Willard’s medical problems and his son’s funeral have created an immense financial burden on the family.
Come show this family that the community cares by helping them in their time of need.
