Focus LaGrange will host its first ever “Chili Shuffle,” with plans to make it an annual event.
The Chili Shuffle will be held from 2-5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4, in LaGrange. Everyone is invited to shuffle between four of LaGrange’s downtown restaurants – Chicago Joe’s, the Brick House, Courtside and Our Place Café – and sample homemade chili with all the fixings, made by friends and neighbors who are competing for cash prizes.
The four local banks, Farmers State Bank, Lake City Bank, People’s Federal and Wells Fargo have donated the prize money. The first place winner of the Chili Shuffle will receive $250, with 2nd place receiving $150 and third place $50 and a football.
Everyone is invited to enter their best chili recipe. Register at Chicago Joe’s by Wednesday, Feb. 1. There is an entry fee and full rules can be found at Chicago Joe’s.
Tickets for the tasting and voting will go on sale at the LaGrange Town Hall or at Chicago Joe’s starting Monday, Jan. 16. Tickets can also be purchased the day of the shuffle at Chicago Joe’s. The ticket allows each person to sample all the chili they want, as well as enter a raffle.
The tickets also serve as the scorecard for voting for the best chili.
The winner of the chili contest will be announced at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 4 at Chicago Joe’s. Raffle winners will also be announced at that time.
Raffle prizes include gift cards from Miller’s Super Valu, CarQuest and Huffman Plumbing, fleece blankets from LaGrange County REMC, a card table extender from Ohio Table Pad, a rag quilt from Homespun Treasures, and coupons from Heron Creek Golf Course.
