Prairie Heights capped off an 8-2 NECC girls basketball campaign Saturday evening with a 50-30 triumph over visiting Central Noble.

 

The LaGrange County Commissioners conducted two public hearings Monday to receive information and public comments on two grant applications.

The following candidates have filed with the LaGrange County Clerk’s Office as of the morning of Jan. 30 (in order of filing):

Gregory Lynn Kohler, 49, Goshen, died Friday, February 3, 2012 at his residence.

    He was born November 16, 1962, in Marion, Ohio.

Ada Nisley, 85, Goshen, died Saturday, February 4, 2012 at her residence.

Elkhart Central earned its fourth victory of the season in spectacular style Tuesday night at Prairie Heights, as the Blue Blazers rolled past the Panthers, 80-41.

Westview disposed of Jimtown, 50-18 in varsity girls basketball play Tuesday night in Emma.

Arnas Zabaurauskas poured in 44 points in leading The Howe School to an 85-70 varsity boys basketball victory over Mendon, Michigan Monday night in Howe.

On Jan. 28, an instrumental solo and ensemble contest was held at Angola Middle School with several Lakeland Middle School students competing.

All LaGrange County offices will be closed on Monday, Feb. 20, in observance of Presidents Day.

 

An early morning traffic stop Tuesday led to the arrest of a Wolcottville man on charges of possession of methamphetamine.

Officers from the Wolcottville Police Department were dispatched to a house on Morel Street shortly after 2 p.m. Monday after a report of an alleged fight in progress involving a knife.

Philip A. Bir, 79, LaGrange, died Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at Miller’s Merry Manor of LaGrange. 

Janice Sue "Jan" Baker, 55, Kendallville, died Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Parkview Hospital in Ft. Wayne.

Luis J. Villalobos, 57, LaGrange, died Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Parkview LaGrange Hospital.
