It has been quite a week. Tragedy and some rough stuff. Remember what I said, rather Mr. Rodgers said, “look for the helpers and there is hope.”

Terry Andrews of Howe was named the 2017 LaGrange County Citizen of the Year, joining a long list of distinguished residents honored for their work in the community.

Leroy L. DeClue, 77, Howe, died Sunday, October 1, 2017 at the Fairview Living Center in Centreville, Mich.

Rowland K. Ormsby Jr., 88, LaGrange, died Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Miller’s Merry Manor of LaGrange.

Steven A. Davis, 64, Ashley, Ind., formerly of Angola, Ind., died Monday, September 25, 2017 at his residence.

Jewell Bolen, 68, Kendallville, Ind., died Saturday, September 30, 2017 at her residence.

Frederick A. Smith, 82, Turkey Lake in Hudson, Ind., died Monday, October 2, 2017, at Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville, Ind.

Westview whipped Fremont, 25-14, 25-10, 25-15 in NECC volleyball action last Thursday night in Fremont.

Prairie Heights improved to 7-2 in the NECC volleyball standings and to 19-7 overall with a 25-21, 25-11, 25-16 victory over county rival Lakeland last Thursday night in LaGrange.
