    Officers from the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department responded to a property damage accident in the 6000S area of CR 900W on April 14.

Rebecca Elma Wert,69, Avilla, Ind., died Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at Presence Sacred Heart Home in Avilla, Ind.

    She was born August 22, 1946, in Garrett, Ind., to the late Godfrey and Leah Lavern (Harrigar) Schlotter.

    She was a 1964 graduate of Avilla High School and worked at Dana Corporation in Churubusco, Ind., for 30 years before retiring in 1998. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Avilla, Ind.

    Surviving are two daughters, Andrea (Autumn Sprong) Wert, Marion, Ind., Romona (Phillip) Hay, Topeka; one son, Ian (Sherry) Wert, Marysville, Ohio; one granddaughter, Hannah, Marysville, Ohio; one grandson Isaah (Erica Warren) Carper, Kalamazoo, Mich.; a great-grandson to come; one sister, Sharon (Chuck) Laws, Avilla, Ind.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Cheryl Miller, three brothers, Robert Schlotter, Richard Schlotter and Jed Schlotter, and one nephew, Richard Schlotter Jr.

    Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, April 18, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Avilla, Ind., with Fr. Daniel Chukwuleta officiating.
