Maxine Charlotte Carpenter, 83, Hudson, Ind., died Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Parkview Regional Hospital in Ft. Wayne, Ind.

    She was born November 10, 1931, in Kendallville, Ind., to Holbert L. and Martha (Todd) Berry. After the death of her mother when she was six days old, she was adopted and raised by Floyd and Wanda Day.

    She was a 1950 graduate of Kendallville High School and retired in 1991 from Kraft Foods after 29 years. She lived at Lake of the Woods since 1972.

    Surviving are Gene Rowe, Lynn Rowe, Norm Rowe, Ron Becker and their families; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alice Swogger and Joanne Fouts; and three brothers, Harold Berry, Albert Berry, and John Berry and their families.

    She was preceded in death by her birth parents, her adopted parents, three husbands, Paul Rowe, Howard Weber, and Irvin

Carpenter, one daughter, Martha Becker, two brothers, William Berry and Robert Berry, and her life-long friend, Iris McKeever Simpson.

    Visitation is 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, January 24, at Brazzell Funeral Homes Avilla Chapel.

    Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, January 24, at Brazzell Funeral Homes Avilla Chapel.

    Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Kendallville, Ind.

    Memorials may be directed to the Noble County Humane Shelter.
