Woodland rips Prairie Heights in football action

Jaylin Bennett rushed for a school-record 260 yards and three touchdowns in leading Woodlan to a 32-7 non-conference football victory over host Prairie Heights last Friday night at Hubert Cline Field.

Bennett’s first scoring bolt came on a 56-yard run in the second quarter, erasing a 7-6 Prairie Heights lead. The halfback would tally again before halftime on a three-yard burst to put the visitors up 18-7.

Bennett again found the end zone on a three-yard rush in the third quarter to extend the Warrior lead to 26-7.

Senior halfback Dylan Stayner tallied the Prairie Heights touchdown on a one-yard dive in the first period. Corey Johnson followed it with a PAT kick.

Bobby Blum led the Panthers in rushing with 46 yards.

Prairie Heights, now 2-3, gets back into NECC play this Friday night when they entertain 2-3 Fremont.
