Woodlan girls oust Heights

Brooke Gerbers poured in 22 points and Haley Hostetler pitched in 16 as Woodlan surged past Prairie Heights, 62-45 in varsity girls basketball Tuesday night in Woodburn.

The Lady Warriors used a 19-11 spurt in the third quarter to stretch a 26-22 halftime lead into a 45-33 cushion. Woodlan then cemented its first win of the season with a 17-11 run in the final frame.

Shawna Carbone played magnificently in defeat for the Lady Panthers, scoring 17 points, grabbing 19 rebounds and making four steals. Haley Kleeberg produced 10 points and 12 boards, while Tressa Terry totaled 10 points and three assists.

Rounding out the Prairie Heights scoring were Saige Dunafin with three points, McKenzie Kain and Jordan Lemay with two apiece, and Havanna Kleeberg with one.

The loss was the first in three decisions for the Lady Panthers.
