Wolcott Mills Elementary School will host a Scholastic Book Fair beginning Monday, Nov. 4, and continuing through Thursday, Nov. 7. This year’s theme is “A Reading Oasis – A Cool Place to Discover Hot Books!”
Funds raised will help purchase books for the media center, classroom libraries, children in need, and more. Families, faculty, and the community are invited to attend this event that helps inspire children to become lifelong readers.
The book fair will feature special extended hours on Tuesday and Thursday evenings until 7:30 p.m. during parent-teacher conferences. This is a perfect time to reward a favorite student for his or her hard work at school. Reading is a key ingredient in building strong students. And books make wonderful birthday and holiday gifts for family and friends, as well.
The book fair will be open during the following hours:
· Monday, Nov. 4: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Student Preview Day.
· Tuesday, Nov. 5: 8-9 a.m. and 3:30-7:30 p.m., Open Sales.
· Wednesday, Nov. 6: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Student Shopping Day/Public Welcome.
· Thursday, Nov. 7: 8-9 a.m. and 3:30-7:30 p.m., Open Sales.
The book fair offers specially priced books and educational products, including popular series, award-winning titles, new releases, adult bestsellers, and other great reads from more than 100 publishers.
Book fair customers can help the school build classroom libraries by purchasing books through the Classroom Wish List program. In addition, the book fair will feature the “All for Books”program, where kids can share the thrill of reading by donating loose change to purchase books from the book fair for the school library, kids who can’t buy a book, classroom collections, and more. Scholastic matches monetary donations with a donation of up to one million books, which go to national non-profit organizations dedicated to helping families in need, such as Kids in Distressed Situations and the Kids in Need Foundation.
