Westview softballers edge Hamiltion

 

 

Westview edged Hamilton, 4-3 in NECC softball Tuesday night in Emma.

The Lady Warriors scored all of their runs in the second inning. Singles by Olivia Miller and Rachel Johns led off the frame. Miller would score on a hit by Sam Pfenning and Johns completed her circuit on a Michelle Mowery single. Pfenning also scored on Mowery’s safety.

Kayla Yoder capped the Westview rally by singling home Mowery.

Hamilton battled back to score three times in the fifth inning, with two of the runs coming home on a single by Sanne Van Rossel. But winning pitcher Kaylene Kaufman got out of the inning without further damage, then retired six of the final eight Lady Marines she faced to close out the victory.

Mowery finished wth two hits to pace the Lady Warrior offense. Sarah Ingeldue had three safeties for Hamilton.
