Westview recognizes top scholars

 

In the interest of recognizing academic excellence, Westview High School has an incentive program that provides students the opportunity to earn specially designed academic blankets, star patches, and rings. Forty-nine Westview scholars and their parents were honored between the JV and varsity basketball games on Feb. 14. This was the 20th year for the annual event.

Seventeen sophomores received academic blankets. They have established a 3.75 G.P.A. cumulative for three semesters.

Earning blankets were Samantha Anderson, Taylor Bender, Sarah Brugger, Erika Byler, Gabrielle Downey, Logan Good, Micah Hunsberger, Xander Laughlin, Jaron Lewton, Brianna Marks, Katelyn Miller, Amber Roth, Chanda Strong, Kimberly Stutzman, Seth Weaver, Brooke Wigner, and Brooke Yoder

Eighteen juniors received a star for their academic blankets by establishing a GPA of at least 3.70 cumulative for five semesters.

Juniors recognized were Austin Borg, Kelsey Carmack, Candice Chupp, Carrie Chupp, Benjamin Cramer, Stephenie Hochstetler, Ariel Miller, Olivia Miller, Michelle Mowery, Nathan Raber, Nicholas Raber, Kiersten Reeve, Josh Richardson, Randi Schrock, Brooke Schwartz, Taylor Warren, Brett Yoder and Kayla Yoder.

Four seniors have established a GPA of at least 3.65 cumulative for seven semesters and received a star or blanket. Recognized for their academic achievements were Janell Bender, Jacob Churney, Briauna Wisler, and Conrad Frey.

Ten seniors were presented with senior academic rings. To receive a ring a senior must establish a GPA of 3.75 or better for seven semesters.

The seniors awarded academic rings were Kyle Baker, Jared Berkey, Devin Bontreger, Skyler Carpenter, Keenan Crotty, Dominique Hunter, Rebecca Lawhorn, Mirandi Miller, Jerry Schwartz, and Tristan Good.
