Westview students will be going to school for a few days into June due to the cancellations caused by this winter’s weather.
The Westview School Board approved a recommendation to have students attend classes through Wednesday, June 4. Students will also attend school on May 12, which had been scheduled as a teacher in-service day.
The change in schedule will not affect graduation, which remains on Friday, May 30, at 7 p.m.
Westview Superintendent Randy Zimmerly said that final exams will be held prior to graduation and that seniors will receive diplomas on June 4. “It’s a nice ending to school. We’ll do some special things with the seniors those last three days,” Zimmerly said.
He added that he did not see the changes as a disruption to the school calendar and that the district considered the needs of all of the students and not only graduating seniors.
