Westview names new Jr. High principal

The Westview School Board approved a recommendation to hire Randy Miller to take over the duties of principal at Westview Jr. High School at their meeting Thursday evening.

Miller, who is currently the assistant principal at Lakeland High School, was selected out of 33 applicants. Superintendent Randy Zimmerly noted that a group of parent, teachers, board members and other principals helped with the selection process.

“I first want to thank the Lakeland School Corporation and Mrs. Merkel (LHS principal) for helping me start my administrative career,” Miller said in a statement at the meeting. “The many people at Lakeland who have supported me along the way have truly been a blessing.”

Miller is a 1999 graduate of Westview High School and graduated in 2003 from University of Southern Indiana. He earned a Master of Education and Administrative License in 2009 from Indiana Wesleyan University. He has been the Assistant Principal at Lakeland High School since 2009.

“I look forward to working with the Westview community and building lasting relationships. It will be an honor to serve in the corporation in the pursuit of excellence. It is my intention to do everything possible for student success,” Miller said.
