Westview girls softball rolls over Elkhart Christian

Kayla Yoder, Hannah Witham and Rachel Johns all had three RBI in sparking Westview to a 16-0 rout of Elkhart Christian Monday night in Emma.

Witham and Amber Roth each poked two hits for the Lady Warriors, who scored six runs in the first inning, one in the second, four in the third and five in the fourth to end the game on the 10-run mercy rule. Getting one hit apiece were Kayla Yoder, Brooke Yoder, Johns, Kaylene Kaufman, Olivia Miller, Brooke Wigner and Bailey Huffman.

Kaufman and Wigner did the pitching for Westview.

Westview hosted Goshen Tuesday night and dropped a tough, 5-4 result.

Trailing 5-3 entering the bottom of the seventh inning, the Lady Warriors crept within one when Kaufman singled, went to second on a walk, reached third on a sacrifice and scored on Michelle Mowery’s ground ball. Mowery got as far as third base before Goshen hurler Byler earned the final out.

Kaufman had both of the Lady Warrior hits in the game. Kayla Yoder scored twice.

Shepherd plated two of Goshen’s markers with a pair of singles.
