Westview girls soccer wins 4th straight

The Westview girls soccer team won its fourth straight NECC tournament Saturday in Emma with an 8-0 dismantling of Central Noble.

Riley Hochstetler’s goal 50 seconds into the match got the Lady Warrior express rolling. Hochstetler would score again later in the first half to put her club up 4-0. Steph Mowery and Tessa Zimmerly also found the net with shots in between Hochstetler’s tallies.

Tori Oesch boosted the Westview lead to 5-0 with an unassisted goal eight minutes into the second half. Two minutes later, Hochstetler completed her hat trick with an assist from Rachelle Whitaker.

Whitaker and Brooke Schwartz capped off the Lady Warrior scoring. Hochstetler earned an assist on Whitaker’s marker.

“Our backs and midfielders played well and controlled the ball for most of the match,” said Westview skipper Jon Jantzi, who squad improved to 8-3 with the win. “We have a lot of young players who have stepped up their play to compete at the varsity level. We’ve taken our lumps from some of the bigger schools on our schedule, but that is getting us ready for the sectional.”

Lady Warrior goalie Megan Steider was credited with one save. Central Noble keeper Renee Zeigler stopped 13 Westview shots.
