Westview rolled past host Lakeland, 9-1 in NECC girls soccer play this past Saturday afternoon.
Tori Oesch of the Lady Warriors broke up a scoreless tie 14 minutes into the match with an unassisted goal. Westview would score three more times before the intermission, with two of the goals coming off the foot of Stephenie Mowery and the other on a shot by Amiah May. Riley Hochstetler assisted on one of Mowery’s gems.
Sidney Byrkett stretched the Lady Warrior lead to 6-0 early in the second half by knocking home a pair of goals within a 30-second span. Maddie Jones earned an assist on Byrkett’s initial tally.
Katie Levitz finally got the Lady Lakers on the scoreboard with 13:55 left in the match. Oesch, Hochstetler and Mowery all found the back of the net after that to give Westview its eight-goal cushion.
Lady Warrior keeper Grace St. Clair totaled six saves. Jessica Hoover was busy between the pipes for Lakeland, stopping 18 shots.
Saturday’s result improved Westview to 3-1 and dropped Lakeland to 3-2-1.
