Westview girls drubs Busco

A strong showing in the middle two quarters was enough to propel Westview past Churubusco, 53-38 in NECC girls basketball Saturday night in Turtle Town.

Trailing by two (14-12) entering the second period, coach Randy Yoder’s Lady Warriors put together an 18-7 run which earned the visitors a 30-21 halftime edge. Westview then out pointed the hosts, 11-6 in the third stanza to boost its lead to 14 (41-27).

Kristen Duff tallied 16 points to top the Westview scoring ledger. Maria McCoy and Grace Hales each netted 10 markers and led the Lady Warriors on the glass with 14 and seven rebounds, respectively.

Jozlyn Needler’s 17 points paced Churubusco.

The win improved Westview to 2-0 in league play and to 5-2 overall.
