Westview girls drub Hamilton

A fast start and a big third quarter boosted the Westview varsity girls basketball team to a 62-34 NECC victory at Hamilton Tuesday night.

The Lady Warriors tallied 19 of the game’s first 23 points to take a commanding lead after one period. Upon emerging from halftime holding a 36-19 advantage, coach Randy Yoder’s charges reeled off a 16-4 surge which extended their margin to 29 (52-23).

Maria McCoy led a trio of Lady Warriors in double figures with 19 points. The 6-1 junior also snagged a team-best seven rebounds.

The win improved Westview to 8-0 in the NECC and to 16-3 overall. The Lady Warriors host Fairfield in a huge conference tilt this Friday.

Sidney Byrkett tallied nine points on a trio of three-point buckets and dished out nine assists. Karis Brewer collected four steals.

Emma Gaff tossed in 19 points to pace Hamilton. Mackenzie Smythe chipped in 11.
