Westview girls drop two

Northern Lakes Conference foes Elkhart Memorial and Goshen each handed the Westview varsity girls basketball team a setback this past weekend, dropping the Lady Warrior season record to 0-3.

Khadijah Moore led a quintet of Memorial players in double figures with 23 points, as the Lady Chargers zoomed to an 82-36 triumph in Emma Friday night. Jenai Peoples fired in 17 markers, Monica Jones 15, Victoria Kyle 11 and Paige Newcomer 10 for the winners.

Brooke Yoder tallied 17 points and dished out three assists for the Lady Warriors, who trailed by a count of 23-7 after one quarter. Grace Hales delivered nine points and three rebounds to the Westview ledger. Kristen Duff and Maria McCoy both grabbed three caroms.

The next night in Goshen, Deja Felder and Aimee Swihart combined to score 51 points, leading the host Lady Redskins to a 70-31 victory over Westview. Felder canned five, three-pointers en route to a 28-point effort while Swihart, who recently became Goshen’s all-time career scoring leader in girls hoops, swished two triples and finished with 23 markers.

Hales led the Lady Warriors with eight points. Duff snatched five rebounds and McCoy hauled down four.
