Westview scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth to knock off defending champion Prairie Heights, 4-3 in the semifinals of the Class 2A softball sectional Tuesday night in Emma.
Brooke Yoder began the Lady Warrior rally by drawing a one-out walk. She then advanced to third on a double by Sam Pfenning.
A ground out to second base by Olivia Miller plated Yoder with the tying run. Rachel Johns then singled home Pfenning with the go-ahead tally.
Prairie Heights put the tying run aboard with one out in the top of the seventh when Jordan Engle-Walworth singled. But she was forced out on a grounder off the bat by Kara Gunthorp. Westview pitcher Kaylene Kaufman then caught Kayla Feeney looking at a called third strike to end the contest.
The Lady Panthers (11-12) took a 3-2 lead in the fifth when Engel-Walworth scored on a Westview error.
Kayla Yoder and Michelle Mowery each had three hits to pace Westview at the plate. Autumn Murphy collected two of the five Prairie Heights safeties.
Westview (9-14) will meet Central Noble in the championship tilt Thursday at 5 p.m. The Lady Cougars beat Bremen, 8-4 in Tuesday’s initial semifinal clash.
