Less than a week after winning its third straight NECC tournament championship, the Westview varsity boys basketball team seized sole possession of first place in the league’s regular-season standings last Friday night with a 67-50 victory at Fairfield.
The result, which stretched the Warriors’ winning streak to 12 games, also improved coach Rob Yoder’s club to 6-0 in the NECC, one game up on both Fairfield (4-1) and Fremont (3-1) in the loss column.
Five Warriors hit double digits in points with Adrian Brandenberger’s 12 markers heading up the group. Swishing 10 points apiece were Jordyn Bontrager, Jerry Schwartz, Brant Yoder and Kyle Miller.
Both Brandenberger and Bontrager each grabbed five rebounds to pace the victors in that department. Yoder and Miller each dished out four assists.
Chandler Kauffman produced 18 points to pace Fairfield.
