The playing conditions were frigid, but Westview’s bats were red-hot at Fremont Saturday morning.
Banging out nine hits and taking advantage of four Eagle misplays, the Warriors rolled to a 15-1 victory in the NECC matchup.
After falling behind 1-0, Westview countered with three runs in the top of the second to go ahead for good. All three tallies scored on a Damon Miller home run launched well over the right-center field fence.
The Warriors busted the game open with five runs in the fourth. Judah Zickafoose knocked in two of the markers with a double, Jake Berkey and Chase Anderson each lined RBI singles, and John Yoder plated one with a sacrifice fly.
Westview batted around again in the fifth, scoring seven times. Jamar Weaver and Tarrin Beachy each slugged RBI doubles in the frame.
Beachy settled down on the mound after the first inning, allowing just four baserunners in the final four frames. The right-hander finished with two strikeouts.
