Westview boys hammer Bethany Christian

 

 

The Westview varsity boys basketball team opened its 2012-13 season on a strong note last Tuesday night in Emma by hammering Bethany Christian, 73-41.

Coach Rob Yoder’s Warriors raced to a 16-0 lead after one period and never looked back. They increased their advantage to 36-9 by halftime and took a 56-19 edge into the final eight minutes.

Ten different players got into the scoring act for Westview, topped by Jordyn Bontrager with 17 points. Brett Yoder tallied 13 and Kyle Miller finished with 10.

Bontrager also contributed eight steals, six rebounds and two blocked shots to the winning effort. Yoder added six boards and three assists to his column, while Jamar Weaver delivered five rebounds and three assists.

Caleb Morris swished 12 points and Abe Thorne 10 for Bethany.
