Westview spotted county rival Lakeland an early, 1-0 lead then reeled off six unanswered goals to claim a 6-1 victory over the Lakers this past Saturday night in Emma.
Logan Lawrence put the Lakers on the scoreboard just over two minutes into the match. But the lead was short-lived, as Lucas Hunter drew the Warriors even with a marker in the 12th minute.
Hunter wasn’t done, however. The senior striker converted a penalty kick in the 31st minute to put his team on top, 2-1. Early in the second half, Hunter completed his hat-trick with another unassisted goal.
Nate Gerardot, Houston Haney and Andrew Brandenberger each kicked in a goal over the final 30 minutes for the 3-1 Warriors. Braden Reynolds assisted on Haney’s tally, while Gavin Gage set up Brandenberger.
After giving up the early goal, Westview keeper Chandler Aspy each of the remaining four shots the Lakers managed to squeeze off. Lakeland netminder Jon Anderson collected six saves.
