Westview boys defeat Angola

When Westview needed him the most in last Friday’s NECC boys basketball battle against Angola, Jordyn Bontrager answered the call.

The 5-11 senior guard tallied 13 of his game-high 26 points in the fourth quarter, sparking a 22-14 rally which lifted the Warriors to a 54-49 victory over the upset-minded Hornets. Bontrager sank four field goals, including a three-pointer, and swished each of his four foul shots in the final frame.

Chandler Aspy ended up with 10 points for Westview, all but two coming from the free throw line. Judah Zickafoose produced seven points and a team-best seven rebounds.

Kent Kohart tallied 15 points, Justin Davis 10 and Aaron Lloyd eight to top Angola, which held a 35-32 advantage heading into the final period.

The win pushed coach Rob Yoder’s squad to 2-0 in the NECC and to 3-2 overall.
