Home runs by Chase Anderson and Judah Zickafoose, and the 14-strikeout pitching effort of Tarrin Beachy sparked Westview to an 8-2 NECC baseball triumph over county rival Prairie Heights last Thursday in Emma.
Anderson’s three-run blast in the second inning staked the Warriors to a 3-0 lead. In the fifth, Zickafoose roped a line-drive over the right-field fence to score two, upping the difference to 5-0.
That was all the support Beachy would require. The senior right-hander held the Panthers scoreless until Jacob Heller rocketed a two-run homer to center in the sixth inning. Beachy allowed just four hits and walked one in 6.1 innings.
Jake Berkey led Westview in hits with three. Beachy and Hunter Christner both had two.
Corey Johnson, who doubled, took the loss on the mound for the Panthers. He walked two and fanned five.
Westview improved to 5-0 in the NECC with the result, while Prairie Heights fell to 2-4.
