Westview hung on to tip Elkhart Christian, 5-4 and blasted NECC foe West Noble, 13-1 in varsity baseball action this week.
After spotting host Elkhart Christian a 1-0 lead Monday evening, the Warriors roared back with three runs in the third inning and two more in the fourth to seize a 5-1 advantage. Tarrin Beachy’s RBI double and an EC fielding error were the big plays in the third-inning rally. Judah Zickafoose singled in one run and Jamar Weaver doubled home another in the fourth.
Elkhart Christian rallied for three runs in the bottom of the fifth to narrow the gap to one. Kenny Bearss drove in to of the tallies with a single and Josh Kelly greeted Warrior reliever Derrike Johns with a double, scoring Bearss.
But Johns left Kelly stranded when he fanned Jacob McCown, and then struckout the side in the sixth. Zickafoose took over in the seventh to nail down the win for Beachy, who worked the initial 4.2 frames. The trio combined to whiff 13 Eagles.
Tuesday night in Emma, the Warriors erupted for 12 runs in the third inning in its rout of West Noble. Beachy doubled and singled in the frame, driving in two runs. Kohle Christner ripped a two-run single, Hunter Christner plated two runs with a groundout and a single, and both Jake Berkey and John Yoder poked an RBI singles.
Berkey finished the game with three hits and three runs scored. Zickafoose socked a double and single.
Houston Haney pitched all five innings for the Warriors. He gave up three hits and struckout six.
Levi Nelson singled home Kyler Warble in the first inning to account for the Charger tally
