Westview baseball team rips Lakeland

Westview forged a 7-2 victory over NECC and county rival Lakeland in varsity baseball action last Thursday night.

The visiting Lakers took the lead with two runs in the third inning, one coming home on a single by Kole Miller. The Warriors answered with two markers in their half of the third, notched a single tally in the fourth and pulled away with two-run frames in both the fifth and sixth.

Houston Haney socked a RBI double and two singles to spearhead the 10-hit Warrior attack. Todd Wisler also had three hits and drove in a run. Jansen Brandenberger and Matt Jones cracked RBI singles.

Miller and Nolan Isaacs each finished with a pair of hits for the Lakers.

Jeryl Weaver pitched the first six innings for Westview to get the win. Weaver scattered five hits, walked three and struckout two. Peyton Martin worked the seventh inning.

Hunter Frost took the pitching loss for Lakeland, giving up eight hits, walking four and whiffing four in five innings. Miles Mast allowed two hits, walked two and fanned one in an inning of relief.
