Westview and Jimtown split softball doubleheader

Westview and Jimtown divided a varsity softball twin bill Saturday afternoon in Emma.

In the opener, the Lady Warriors scored a run in the fourth and a run in the fifth to rally past the Lady Jimmies, 5-4. Brooke Yoder’s one-out fielder’s choice plated Kayla Yoder with the eventual winning marker.

Jimtown got the tying run to third base in the sixth and loaded the bases in the seventh, but failed to score. Sam Pfenning went all the way in the pitcher’s circle for Westview, scattering three hits, walking nine and striking out two.

Amber Roth laced two hits and drove in a run to lead the Lady Warriors at the plate.

Jimtown tallied four runs in the first and five more in the fifth en route to a 9-3 victory in the nightcap. Clark and Winter each slapped two doubles and a single to spearhead the Lady Jimmie attack.

Hannah Witham’s double in the first brought home Roth with the initial Westview run. Brooke Yoder then smashed a two-run homer in the sixth.

Witham, Yoder and Rachel Johns all had two hits in the closer.
