West Noble upends Westview in softball play

West Noble erupted for 11 runs in the sixth inning and went on to beat Westview, 12-7 in NECC softball Tuesday evening in Ligonier.

Ashley Shepherd’s two-run double was the big hit in the Lady Charger rally, which erased a 7-1 Westview advantage. Beth Wigent, Kelsie Peterson and Janelle Miller each contributed RBI singles. West Noble also drew seven walks in the frame.

Sidney Byrkett laced a double and two singles to spearhead the Lady Warriors, who tallied four runs in the top of the fifth to build their six-run cushion. Rachel Johns collected two hits and two RBI, Brooke Yoder had two hits and an RBI, and Amber Roth poked a two-run single.

Peterson, who relieved Miller in the pitcher’s circle, got the win for West Noble. Sam Pfenning took the loss for Westview.
