Korey Kendall’s two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning gave West Noble a 7-5 NECC baseball triumph over visiting Lakeland Tuesday night.
The Lakers had tied the game at 5-all in the top of the seventh with a couple of runs. Kevin Marsh led off the Charger seventh with a single, then Kendall ripped the first pitch deep over the left-field fence to end the game.
Kendall, Marsh, Levi Nelson and Cy Mikel all had two hits for West Noble.
Dustin Cunningham plated three runs with a couple of hits for the Lakers. His two-out single in the fourth inning gave his team a 2-1 lead.
Ryan Oakley topped Lakeland with three hits. Nick Byler had one hit and two RBI.
Bo Lutton, who came on in relief of Marsh in the seventh inning and got the final two outs, got credit for the pitching win. Mikel pitched the first five frames for the Chargers.
William Kelly went the distance on the mound for the Lakers. Kelly struckout five and walked none. Only four of the seven West Noble runs were earned, as the Lakeland defense committed five errors.
