Wawasee boys down Lakeland

Ryndan Aaron canned six, three-point shots on his way to a 20-point night in leading Wawasee to a 60-53 varsity boys basketball victory over Lakeland Saturday in Syracuse.

Bauer Schmeltz swished three long bombs and wound up with 15 points for the Warriors, who led by 12 (38-26) at halftime. Jake Clark was the third Wawasee player to hit double figures, as he sank 13 markers.

Spencer Mortola scored 17 points and Jalen King knocked down 16 for the Lakers, who used a 16-7 spurt in the third quarter to narrow the Warrior lead to three (45-42). Tim Abbott chipped in 10 points to the Lakeland cause.

The setback dropped the Lakers to 5-9 on the season.
