Warriors fall in volleyball tourney final

Central Noble defeated host Westview, 25-21, 25-18 in the championship match of a varsity volleyball tournament played Saturday in Emma.

The Lady Cougars trimmed Angola (25-21, 22-25, 15-2), Whitko (25-14, 25-18) and Goshen (25-16, 28-26) in Gold Pool play. The Lady Warriors took the Red Pool with victories over Eastside (25-15, 26-24), Concord (25-23, 25-23) and Bremen (25-13, 25-18).

Grace Hales totaled 29 kills, Maria McCoy 25 and Miranda Kresse 20 on the day for Westview. Makai Gingerich racked up 79 assists and seven aces. Kresse served six aces and Miriam Gingerich four.

Topping the dig chart were Lexi Hostetler with 25 and both Hales and Kresse with 19. Blocking three shots apiece were Hales, McCoy and Taylor Eash.

Westview stands 6-2 on the season.
