Warrior boys clip Fairfield

Westview used a 20-7 surge in the fourth quarter to put away Fairfield, 51-37 in NECC boys basketball play last Friday night in Emma.

The Falcons, who took the Warriors to overtime six days earlier on the same floor in the NECC tournament finale, trailed by only a point (31-30) after three quarters. A trio of three-pointers by Marcus Rodes helped Fairfield stay close.

Two big threes by Kyle Miller fueled Westview’s finishing kick. Sealing the deal was an 8-10 team effort from the foul stripe.

Both Miller and Jordyn Bontrager totaled 15 points to pace the Warrior attack. Nic Raber added 10 and Chandler Aspy nine.

Rodes wound up with 11 markers to top Fairfield. Josh Stephens netted 10.

The victory kept the Warriors tied with West Noble atop the NECC standings. Both teams stand 6-0 in league play.
