Westview lost a pair of varsity baseball games over the weekend in the Mishawaka Tournament.
The Warriors fell to St. Joseph High School of Michigan, 9-4 in their first tourney game Friday afternoon. St. Joe broke open a tight game with two runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth. Luke Miller’s single in the first inning accounted for two of the four Westview tallies.
In their game Saturday, the Warriors dropped a 2-1 decision to Niles, Michigan. Westview broke out on top, 1-0 in the second inning when Darren Stillson doubled home Austin Schlabach. Schlabach had singled to start the frame.
But that was all the scoring Westview could muster in the tilt. Niles tied the game with a run in its half of the fourth inning, then secured the victory with a marker in the bottom of the seventh.
Jamar Weaver pitched well in defeat for the Warriors. Weaver struckout eight and walked just two in 6.1 innings.
The two losses left Westview with a 1-3 overall record.
