Voter registration and absentee voting announced

Circuit Court Clerk Beverly S. Elliott has announced the following deadlines for new voter registration, a change to an existing registration, and absentee voting for the Primary Election to be held on Tuesday, May 8.

Voter registration...

Monday, April 9, is the last day that new voter registration or change to an existing voter registration may be done before the Primary Election. Registrations may be done at the clerk's office or voter registration office.

An individual may also submit an application for voter registration or application to transfer registration at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles License Branch or any other full-service agency.

Every registered voter was mailed a voter acknowledgement in January. Anyone who did not get one needs to go online to and check their registration. Registration can be changed there or a new registration put in. Anyone who does not have access to a computer should call 499-6392 by April 9 to have their registration checked and/or make any changes.

Voter registration will begin again after the Primary Election on Tuesday, May 22, 2012.

Absentee voting...

Absentee voting begins at 9 a.m. on Monday, April 9, and ends at noon on Monday, May 7.

Absentee voting hours are 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at the LaGrange County Courthouse.

Absentee voting will also be available from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 28, and Saturday, May 5.

Applications for absentee voting are currently available at the clerk's office.

A valid government-issued photo ID is required in order to vote.
