Vivian L. Miller, 95, Middlebury, died Monday, August 27, 2012 at Courtyard of Goshen.
She was born August 13, 1917, in Middlebury, to Charles and Marie (Mosier) Hout.
She a 1934 graduate of Middlebury High School, worked at the Middlebury Creamery for 20 years, and was a matron at the Elkhart County Jail, starting when LeRoy was sheriff and serving for 12 years. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church since 1931, Middlebury's Read-A-Bit Club, the historical society, Extension Homemakers Club since 1961, and was named the 2005 Elkhart County Senior Homemaker of the Year.
She was married October 20, 1940, in Middlebury, to LeRoy Miller. He preceded her in death on September 11, 2002.
Surviving are one son, Doug (Valerie) Miller, Middlebury; one grandson, Steve (Sherri) Miller, Middlebury; one granddaughter, Stephanie Miller, Ann Arbor, Mich.; three great-grandchildren; twin sisters, Joanne Leonhard, Elkhart, and Roanne (Joe) Prough, Goshen; and one brother, Richard (Ruth) Hout, Shipshewana.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Wales and Carol Miller, and one brother, Bruce Hout.
Visitation is 3-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home in Middlebury.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 31, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home in Middlebury with Pastor Randy Schroeder officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Grove Cemetery, Middlebury.
