Virginia I. Kilgore, 97, LaGrange, died Monday, April 29, 2013 at Parkview LaGrange Hospital.
She was born January 17, 1916, in LaGrange County, to Wilber and Elizabeth (Schemahorn) Minzy.
She worked part-time as a retail clerk at the dime store in Kendallville, Ind., and was a homemaker all of her life. She played piano for years at the EUB church. She and her husband traveled to 48 states throughout their lives.
She was married June 8, 1933, in Centerville, Mich., to Charles A. Kilgore. He preceded her in death on July 1, 1989.
Surviving are one daughter, Patricia Forsyth, Centerville, Mich.; two sons and one daughter-in-law, David and Michele Kilgore, Kendallville, Ind., and James Kilgore, LaGrange; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 24 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, Sally Brinkman and Nancy Martin, two grandchildren and one sister.
Funeral services were held Thursday, May 2, at Carney-Frost Funeral Home in LaGrange with Reverend Carldean Merrifield officiating.
Burial is in Greenwood Cemetery, LaGrange.
