Virginia (Rose) Ames, 85, of LaGrange, formally of North Liberty, Ind., died Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at Life Care Center of LaGrange.
She was born July 28, 1927, in Myrtle, Miss., to James Malcolm and Jeanette (Killough) Hudnall.
She was a member of the LaGrange Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was honored as the Methodist Woman of the Year in Columbus, Ga., in 1985.
She was married to Walter L. Rose Sr. for 38 years. He preceded her in death. She then married Raymond Ames and was married for 10 years. He also preceded her in death.
Surviving are seven children, Donald Russell, Michigan City, Ind., Bob Russell, Plainfield, Ill., Katherine (Russell) Wirth, LaGrange, Dave Russell, Kalamazoo, Mich., Mike Rose, Medford, Ore., Colleen (Rose) Watson, Anchorage, Alaska, and Pat Rose, South Bend, Ind.; 16 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Cassie Ann (Hudnall) Gillentine, Tupelo, Miss.
She was preceded in death by one son, Walter “Butch” Rose Jr., and one sister, Marie (Hudnall) Burleson.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Friday, September 7, at Carney-Frost Funeral Home in LaGrange.
Burial will be in Park Hill Cemetery, Columbus, Ga.
Memorials may be directed to the LaGrange Food and Clothes Basket or to the family for the Wounded Warrior Project in memory of Virginia Ames.
