Vehicle flees after attempted traffic stop in LaGrange

On December 13, officers from the LaGrange Police Department were dispatched to the 200 block of Mountain Street in LaGrange regarding suspicious activity.

    According to the police report, when officers arrived at the scene, a vehicle was stopped at a stop sign with no headlights on and the trunk lid half open. A traffic stop was attempted but the suspect vehicle took off. A pursuit was initiated in the area of Mountain Street and Michigan Street and ended safely at South Street and Main Street when the driver and passenger were apprehended.

    Kyle R. Collins, 28, of LaGrange along with Brody M. Phillips, 21, also of LaGrange, were taken into custody. Charges pending include resisting law enforcement with a motor vehicle, habitual traffic violator, and OWI refusal.

    Assisting the LaGrange Police Department was the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department, Wolcottville Police Department, Topeka Police Department, and Shipshewana Police Department.
