Utility district Pledges support For water project

“I don’t want our board to be a hold-up on anything that involves economic development,” said Ron Kantorak, chairman of the LaGrange County Utility District.

Kantorak was speaking Thurs. evening to an issue that has arisen regarding water for the Fillmore Equipment John Deere dealership new building that will be built at the Junction of State Road 9 and CR 300N.

Utility Board Attorney John Gastineau said that the Utility District, which has water distribution authority for the unincorporated parts of LaGrange County, could relinquish those rights to the Town of LaGrange to supply water on St. Rd. 9 north of LaGrange.

Fillmore would like to have water service at the site for fire protection purposes and the Town of LaGrange has the availability of water.

County officials have a special combined Commissioner-Council meeting set for 9 a.m. Mon., July8. At that meeting local officials will consider a special appropriation of $500,000 from Major Moves to finance the installation of a water line to both the Fillmore property and north to the Lippert property at about 350N on ST. Rd. 9.

Kantorak said that he will be at the county meeting and will call a special meeting of the utility district board if that is necessary to expedite the issue.

Other members of the utility board are Phil Malone, Patrick Wilshire, Howard Slater and Bob Jarolin. Heidi Sisco is adminis-trator for the district.
