The Topeka Town Council was told Monday that the issues surrounding the partially demolished building at the corner of Main and Lake streets are being resolved or are close to resolution.
Town Attorney Bill Eberhard told the council that the owner of the building has agreed to stipulate that the building to the south is unsafe, which clears the way for other issues to be resolved.
An engineering report has also shown that the south wall of Mr. Ed’s should be okay on its own. However, that wall sits across the property line to the south, which is one issue that remains to be resolved.
Eberhard said that a meeting will be held at 4 p.m. on March 20 at the town hall with the council and the property owners seeking resolution to the remaining issues.

The council heard a request from S&H Metal for a 10-year abatement on personal property at the company’s recently purchased location, where they are bringing in over $800,000 in new equipment. A final hearing will be held at the March 25 meeting.
The council approved the purchase of an in-car video camera to replace an older model that is no longer working.
