According to a report from the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department, Merlin Miller, 18, of CR 26 in Middlebury was traveling northbound on CR 600W at the intersection of CR 300S on Feb. 5 when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree head-on. Miller’s vehicle then rolled over and came to rest on its top, trapping Miller and a passenger in the vehicle.
The passenger, Kenneth Miller, 18, of CR 4 in Middlebury was asleep in the back seat with no seatbelt on at the time of the accident. Merlin Miller allegedly told officers there was a possibility he fell asleep at the wheel.
Merlin Miller was taken to Parkview Hospital in Ft. Wayne for back injuries. Kenneth Miller was initially taken to Parkview LaGrange Hospital but was then airlifted to Parkview Hospital in Ft. Wayne due to back injuries.
